"…and when the Earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance."
Sat Kar Tar Meditation
Embody the opening of the gateways of the heart with this moving meditation. Use the mantra to keep rhythm and time. Try it for 3 minutes and increase from there as you feel ready! Find awareness of the heat in the arms, chant from the heart, and smile.
So in trying to sustain a meditation practice, I’ve found that I trick myself into feeling like its a burden or a chore, especially when its the same type of meditation everyday. With this “No Excuses November” idea, I’ve been meditating every night before bed and have just been allowing the style of meditation to choose me.
I sat down the other night and these phrases came to me. In the past, when something has come to me intuitively it has usually catered to the current status of my emotional and mental state.
I touched each finger to the thumb alternately as I mentally stated each phrase and after practicing this for a handful of times I feel like my mind silences almost instantly. Try it out! See if you resonate with it.
The four phrases were (in this order):
I am not my thoughts
I am not my body
I am not my mind
I am not my emotions
Har Har Mukande
The meditation focus for November at my Tuesday night classes at Be the Change Yoga and Wellness has been Har Har Mukande, a meditation to liberate us from obstacles, real or imagined. This meditation helps us to overcome our fears and allows us to follow our heart.
Guru Gaitri Mantra
December’s mantra for my Tuesday night class is the Guru Gaitri mantra, one of my favorite mantras in the Kundalini yoga practice. Chanting this mantra has brought tears to my eyes almost instantly for the last 7 years of having a relationship with it. We will go deep with this one this month! Give it a shot!
